Bahrain falcon, hunting tournament second week begins

Manama, Jan. 15 (BNA): Under the patronage of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee the competitions of the second week of Bahrain Tournament for Falcon and Hunting began on Thursday in Al Sabkha area near Bahrain International Endurance Village. The competitions were attended by HH Shaikh Faisal bin Rashid Al Khalifa, President of Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation (BREEF), a number of Royal Family members and many traditional sports enthusiasts. HH Shaikh Faisal commended on the organisers and participants in the tournament, highlighting that the contests held in the first week witnessed strong competition between the participants. He appreciated the members of the Supreme Organising Committee for working hard to bring out a successful regional traditional sports event. The competitions of the second week will continue until Saturday and will include different falconry contests, shooting contests, Saluki hunting dogs races and a traditional Arabian horse race. The first day of the second week competitions consisted of a 400 metre falconry contest which was dominated by falconer Mohammed Barghash Al Mansoori who finished in 21.938 seconds. The second and third places went to Mohammed Ibrahiim Al Buainain and Mohsen Fahad Al Hajery, who finished in 21.941 and 22.047 seconds respectively. The participants highlighted the high technical levels seen in the tournament and praised the organisers for providing the perfect atmosphere for contenders to compete. The registration committee’s efforts were also appreciated by the participants, providing the accurate statistics and scores of the contenders in all the contests. Bahrain Sports Channel crew played a big role in the success of the tournament, by being present at the site and covering all the stages of the competition.
