Aspire Bats for a Social Cause
Doha, June 10 (QNA) - Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) has partnered with the Sheikh Eid Bin Mohammad Al Thani Charitable Association (SEBMTCA) to support its drug rehabilitation center (Arshidni).
The move reinforces the commitment of one of the region's leading sport hubs in using sports as a tool for social development, and opens up new avenues of co-operation with like-minded organizations with charitable and social missions, AZF said Sunday.
The continued agreement will see the Foundation supporting Arshidni center, extending the use of its recreational facilities and providing financial aid to help the organizations events and activities.
In addition to financial support, patients of the rehab center will be able to utilize some of the most advanced and engaging physical-health activities anywhere in the world at the AZF and build on the opportunity to speed up ongoing recoveries.
"We have long advocated the use of sport for the broader social development, including women empowerment, poverty reduction, conflict resolution, and community outreach. This agreement is a testament of AZF's commitment to harnessing the true power of physical activity and the health benefits it leads to," said Hamad Buhindi, Public Relations Manager at AZF.
"The promise to the Sheikh Eid association also forms part of our wide-ranging Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programME, while simultaneously acknowledging the wonderful, and often challenging, work by the charity organization of integrating drug addicts back into society," added Buhindi.
In its second year running, the Guide Me Center offers specialized drug addiction treatments and draws its support from a network of local and international institutional partnerships.
The Doha-based Center aims to be one of the top 30 rehab centers in the world by 2030.
As well as hosting internationally-recognized sporting events, conferences, and events, AZF actively backs a variety of social development initiatives ranging from UN-backed youth leadership camps to installation of free gym equipment for public use to diabetes camps all year round as part of its on-going CSR strategy to encourage healthy lifestyles.
