Asian Games Should Be Prepared In Detail: President

JAKARTA, March 7 (Antara) - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has asked his ministers, and the organizing committee to check all preparations for the 18th Asian Games in detail, including the venues, technical supports, as well as the athletes training. "On this 8th meeting, as a host, we only have six months left to prepare all the necessities. I believe we should be 100 percent ready, and some issues are should be immediately resolved," Jokowi said at the Presidential Office here, Tuesday. During the limited meeting on the 18th Asian Games Preparations which was also attended by the Vice President Jusuf Kalla, along with the ministers, the president asked for more comprehensive reports. "For the venue, I want to know, which buildings have been completed, which ones are still being constructed, and how many projects are still on the bids," the president added. On the occasion, Jokowi also asked the organizer and ministers to arrange reports in detail, from the opening, the match sessions, and the closing. Hence, he expected the Indonesian Asian Games Organizing Committee (INASGOC) will anticipate all the scenarios of the 18th Asian Games to be held from Aug 18 to Sep 2. "The committee needs to prepare alternative scenarios, because Asian Games is not a ceremonial event, as a host country, we should prepare the traffic, athlete accommodation, the officials, and all the supporting tools," Jokowi stressed. In Jakarta alone, the president had already inaugurated seven venues, including the Tennis Court, Istora Senayan, The Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, the Hockey Field, the Archery Hall, the ABC Football Venue, and the Swimming Hall. President Jokowi also visited the Athlete Mansion in Kemayoran on Feb 26, and he stated that the facility was 99.9 percent ready to use.
