Allyson Felix: "I Would Love To Set New Personal Bests This Year"
Doha, May 08 (QNA) - Allyson Felix, the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) named female athlete of the year for 2012, is once again back in Qatar for the Diamond League. "Its always good to be back here in Doha", Allyson said, with her trademark sunshine smile. It is the first time for Doha Diamond League to witness the participation of an IAAF athlete of the year.
Following her success at the London 2012 Olympic Summer Games, where she gracefully added more gold medals in her huge collection, including the 200 metres one, it just looks like Allyson has not reached the top of her Olympic dreams: "It feels really great to have the 200 metres gold under my belt, but I feel theres much more to do" she said.
Allyson, gearing up for Fridays 400 metres race, said "Its just great to have big competition at the 400 metres race."
This years Doha Diamond League 400 metres feature once again a strong line-up. With four Olympic Champions participating, it looks like it will be a tight race. "You never know whats going to happen, you just go out there and try for the best", Allyson pointed out. With five wins in five races in the past here in Doha, she has established herself as a tradition: "It is an early season meeting and its like a test, but I like to go up against people in competition, so lets see".
2013 will be another top-flying year for Allyson: "My focus is the World Athletics Championships in Moscow" she said, with her sight fixed in August, adding: "I would love to set new personal bests this year".
Perhaps Doha will be a great starting point for Allyson to reach new heights in her golden career. (QNA)
