AL SHAQAB to Offer Unique Horse Riding Programme for Shafallah Students

Doha, March 29 (QNA) - AL SHAQAB, a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Thursday with the Shafallah Centre for Children with Special Needs. Under the new agreement, AL SHAQAB's Riding Academy will develop a unique programme tailored to fostering the horse riding skills of seven students currently enrolled at Shafallah. Signed in the midst of CHI AL SHAQAB, an international equestrian competition taking place in Doha, the cooperation upholds both organisations' social responsibility to preserve the nation's long history in equine sport. "At AL SHAQAB, we strive to weave all elements of society into our programmes. In addition to teaching Shafallah students riding skills, we will help to nurture their passion for equine sport, which is a crucial component of the countrys rich past," explained Fahad bin Saad Al Qahtani, AL SHAQAB Director & CHI AL SHAQAB President. The objectives of this agreement aim to enhance the quality of life for both children and adults with special needs. The new riding programme has been customised to each students particular needs and desires to ensure they successfully adopt basic horse riding skills upon completion of the lessons. The initiative will also help to foster self-confidence and provide an atmosphere conducive to forming new friendships. "Shafallah is committed to providing as much support and encouragement as possible for our children. This is consistent with the vision and mission of AL SHAQAB and during the past two years we have built a close relationship with them," said Sameera Al-Qassimi, Managing Director of Shafallah. "Our students are so fortunate to be able to experience all that AL SHAQAB has to offer. We hope that this mutual support that Shafallah and AL SHAQAB provide for one another continues in the future." AL SHAQAB aims to be a modern centre, fitted with the latest technologies and equipment in equine sport. It will continue to promote quality horse care while encouraging wider participation in AL SHAQAB's projects and initiatives from the local community. Members of the public are invited to visit the 17,000 square metre spectator plaza at CHI AL SHAQAB, which boasts a fashion exhibition, trade market, food court and dedicated kids zone. The four-day competition, ending on March 30, is family-friendly and suitable for all age groups. (QNA)
