Al Sadd Start Off Super Globe Campaign with Win

Doha, August 25 (QNA) - Al-Sadd recorded Sunday a comfortable win victory at the IHF Super Globe in Doha over Sydney University 33-20. The win makes Al Sadd the leader of group A after the first day. Al Sadd was the third team to play in the competition and the first to win. El-Rayyan was defeated by Barcelona and El-Jaish drew with HSV Hamburg. Al Sadd was in complete command of the game from the off and managed to score 5 consecutive goals to lead 10-5. Al Sadd were helped in coal by the strong performance of Jose Javier Hombrados, a former World Champion. Mohammed Hassaballa was another strong performer before he had to leave the court due to injury. The result doubled in the second half 20-10 and Al Sadd kept up the pressure till the end to win the game by a 13 goal margin. HE the Minister of State for Defence Affairs Maj. Gen. Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) Director of Sports Affairs Committee Khalil Al Jaber and Secretary-General of Al Jaish Club Thani Al Kuwari all attended the opening ceremony, which was attended, as well, by members of the Qatari Handball Association.
