Al-Athba to Begin Olympic Campaign on Thursday

London, August 02 (QNA) - Qatar's Rashid Al-Athba will begin his campaign in Double Trap Competition at the 30th Summer Olympic Games being held in London until 12 August 2012, on Thursday. Men's Double Trap Competition will be held at Royal Artillery Barracks with participation of 24 shooters. Besides Al-Athba, UAE will be represented by Sheikh Jumaa Al-Maktoum, Fahad Al-Dihani will carry the Kuwaiti hopes while Oman will be represented by Ahmad Al-Hatimi. Al-Athba qualified to the Olympic Games after occupying the third place at Asian Shooting Championship. Al-Athba also was a member of Qatar's team that claimed Men's Skeet Teams Gold at Asian Championship, Qatar Olympic Committee reported. On the other hand, Qatar's Shooter Bahya Mansour Al Hamad has intensified her training sessions before participation in Women's 50m Rifle 3 Positions competition at the 2012 Olympic Games on 04 August. Al Hamad Saturday narrowly missed out on a main draw berth in the 10m air rifle competition at the Royal Artillery Barracks shooting rage. Bahya, with a tally of 395-30x, finished in 17th spot out of 56 shooters. Al-Hamad confidently claimed 2 gold medals in the women's rifle event at the outgoing Arab Games 2011, she also qualified to the Youth Olympic Games 2010. (QNA)
