AFC, CAF sign MoU on joint cooperation

Kigali, Jan. 15 (BNA): The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) and the African Football Confederation (CAF) signed here a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance joint cooperation in various fields. AFC President Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim Al Khalifa and CAF President Issa Hayatou signed the MoU on mutual co-operation on development of football between the two confederations, in the presence of CAF Secretary-General Hicham El Amrani, and AFC Secretary-General Dato’ Windsor John. The MoU, which will be valid for four years and open to renewal, aims to strengthen cooperation between the two confederations and provide a framework for exchanges on competitions. They will also share information and experience, launch high level competitions and conduct joint technical development programmess in various fields such as: Coaching, Refereeing, Youth football, Women's football, Integrity, Administration, Marketing, Media and Innovative technologies. Shaikh Salman bin Ibrahim hailed the MoU, stressing that it will deepen cooperation between the two confederations. Issa Hayatou said that the two sides started preparing the MoU since May, 2015 when the secretary-general met in Zurich, noting that the MoU will provide a platform for two confederations to exchange information and expertise and launch high-level competitions.
