Ski schools of Kyrgyzstan to receive over 300 sets of Swiss equipment

Bishkek, June 20, 2023. / Kabar/. More than 300 sets of equipment will be distributed to children's and youth ski schools in Kyrgyzstan, Director of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Kyrgyz Republic Aibek Abdymomunov told reporters at Kabar Agency.
Specialized schools currently operate in Naryn, Karakol, Bishkek and Orlovka. There are plans to open such centers in Osh and Jalal-Abad regions.
“The equipment was provided free of charge by a Swiss company. We will distribute the kits fairly among the children's and youth schools in the regions. We intend to develop skiing throughout the country, and we have every opportunity for this. We will train qualified judges for local competitions, as well as attract coaches with international experience. In the fall, we expect the arrival of a coach from Europe,” Abdymomunov said.
According to Director of the Association of Skiers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Nursultan Kydykov, the support and development of skiing will not only contribute to the promotion of athletes, but will also have a positive effect on winter tourism in Kyrgyzstan.
“Winter sports start with our services. We will develop a teaching methodology for our athletes. We have an agreement with international associations and federations, with which we are exploring the possibilities of cooperation. Such negotiations are being held with partners from Switzerland, Austria and Germany,” Kydykov said.
Bakyt Tulozhanov, President of the Kyrgyz Skiing Sports Federation, noted that in the past two years, much attention has been paid to winter sports in the country. The Department of Physical Culture and Sports holds various competitions that give athletes a ticket to participate in international tournaments.
“In December last year, the first Republican Winter Games “I am the Champion” were held in Karakol. More than 300 athletes in cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and hockey participated in them. Those who showed good results represented Kyrgyzstan at the International Sports Games “Children of Asia,” summed up Tulozhanov.
