Kyrgyzstan, Denmark to undertake joint research on antimicrobial resistance

Bishkek, Dec. 17, 2021. / Kabar /. A Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan and the International Centre for Combating Antimicrobial Resistance Solutions (ICARS), Copenhagen, Denmark.
The press service of the Health Ministry reported that within the framework of the signed Memorandum, it is planned to conduct for the first time unique scientific research in Kyrgyzstan to develop markers and objective available criteria for antibiotic therapy for respiratory infections, and especially for COVID-19 using innovative technologies and approaches.
A map of antimicrobial resistance in Kyrgyzstan will be created for the first time, which will allow the development of National Recommendations on antibiotic therapy, taking into account the local pattern of antibiotic resistance.
The research will be led by Professor Talantbek Sooronbaev (Kyrgyzstan) and Professor Jesper Kjaegaard (Denmark) with the participation of young researchers from the newly created modern international model of scientific cluster in Kyrgyzstan of the scientific consortium, represented by 7 leading medical scientific centers and universities of Kyrgyzstan.
The research will undertaken together with leading specialists and young scientists from the International Center for Antimicrobial Resistance (Denmark), University of Copenhagen (Denmark), University of Groningen (Netherlands).
