Worshippers pay homage to Lord Buddha
BANGKOK, June 3 (TNA) - Charity activities are being held across Thailand on Sunday ahead of Vesak Day, which marks the birth of Buddha, and also his enlightenment and death.
The annual celebration, which falls on June the 4th this year, also significantly marks the 2,600th anniversary of Buddha’s Enlightenment.
In Bangkok, Assistant Interior Minister General Wattana Sanphanich chaired a walkathon to the Grand Palace in paying homage to the Buddha, during which around 10,000 devout Buddhists participated.
Similar activities were also being held in Nong Khai province bordering with Lao PDR, highlighted by the chanting of Buddhist sermons and candle processions at temples. (TNA)
