Wide range of issues of interaction and cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and EU discussed in Bishkek

Bishkek, Feb. 9, 2021 / Kabar /. Director of the Sixth Political Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Ermek Omuraliev met with Ambassador - Head of the European Union Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic Eduard Auer.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, during the meeting, representatives of the Kyrgyz Republic and the EU discussed a wide range of issues of interaction and cooperation in trade and economic sphere between Kyrgyzstan and the European Union for 2021 and subsequent short-term prospects, in particular the opportunities of the European Union to exchange experience and project activities in reforming public administration, human development and a green economy.
During the conversation, the Kyrgyz side drew the attention of Ambassador Auer to such topical aspects of cooperation as:
• more efficient use by the Kyrgyz Republic of the possibilities of the GSP + status granted by the European Union, including the conditions for prolonging the GSP +, issues of certification and phytosanitary laboratories of the Kyrgyz Republic;
• the holding of the First Central Asia-European Union Economic Forum in Bishkek, which is considered one of the key events of the current year;
• priority directions of the EU project and program activities in the Kyrgyz Republic, including the multi-year indicative program (MIP 2021-2027) and the EU regional indicative program (RIP).
In turn, Eduard Auer informed the Kyrgyz side about:
• projects that are under implementation and planned projects in the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic in 2021;
• the upcoming presentation of the priorities of the EU Multi-Year Indicative Program for the Kyrgyz Republic for 2021-2027, which will be organized by the EU Delegation to the Kyrgyz Republic on February 9 this year.
At the end of the meeting, the main areas of cooperation for 2021 were identified, including within the framework of the EU project and program activities in the Kyrgyz Republic, and the need to increase the entire spectrum of cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the EU was emphasized.
