VP Jusuf Kalla, ICAPP secretary general discuss Asian poitcs
Seoul, South Korea, Aug 26 (Antara) - Vice President Jusuf Kalla received Secretary General of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) Chung Eui-yong to discuss Indonesia's contributions to the conference's activities.
"ICAPP, which is an organization of moderate political parties from the Asia-Pacific region, plans to hold a conference. He just now informed me as the Golkar Party will be the host for next year's ICAPP conference," Kalla stated here on Wednesday.
He noted that the ICAPP plans to hold the next conference in Bandung, West Java.
Chung remarked that the ICAPP plans to hold its trilateral meeting and would invite several political parties from Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
"It will be an ICAPP working committee meeting, and the fourth to be attended by participants from Asia who will be represented through ICAPP, Latin America, and Africa," he affirmed.
He pointed out that the committee would also invite several political parties from Europe to the meeting.
"The meeting is planned in the middle of 2016. I have suggested holding the meeting around March and May," he remarked.
The meeting aims to promote cooperation among political parties in the world, with focus on overcoming poverty along with promoting green development and women's empowerment.
"We wish to extend our activities in line with regional development. We are trying to invite political parties from other regions to join in the effort," he stated.
Vice President Kalla, who is in South Korea from August 26 to 30, will be the key speaker at the High Level Conference on Peace organized by the Universal Peace Federation on August 28.
He arrived in Seoul on Wednesday morning and thereafter immediately held several meetings with political and economic leaders from South Korea.
Besides discussing peace, Kalla will also meet several South Korean businessmen to encourage them to invest in the country.
