Video presentation of Baku as candidate to host the Olympics-2020 held

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 9 /Trend/ The organising committee of 'Baku-2020', held a presentation of Baku as a candidate for hosting the Summer Olympic Games in 2020 using a direct video conference to the Expert Group of the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The Baku committee, as well as Doha, Istanbul, Madrid and Tokyo had to provide detailed information about the technical features of its bid book in 15 minutes and answer questions from the IOC, within half an hour via a direct video conference, the organising committee told Trend. Executive director of 'The Baku-2020', Kenul Nurullayeva, the deputy minister of Culture and Tourism Nazim Samedov, AFFA Secretary General Elkhan Mammadov, head of the department of the project management of SOCAR Elmeddin Dadashov and a member of the expert group 'Baku-2020', DeVries Kara were included in the delegation chaired by the Minister of Youth and Sport Azad Rahimov. The presentation was successful. The Youth and Sports Minister said the Azerbaijani specialists have held it at a high level. "We can say the IOC expert group was positively impressed by our presentation. Next and a more extensive presentation which we are going to show, will be held at the General Assembly of the Association of National Olympic Committees in Moscow. The organising committee will hold a 10-minute presentation at the event, which will be attended by 1000 people," Rahimov said. In accordance with the rules of the IOC, the theme of the technical presentations isn't disclosed. In accordance with the requirements of the IOC, organising committees need to present their capabilities in order to be chosen on May among the cities competing for the Olympic Games -2020. The IOC used this form for the first time. The IOC approved the nomination of Baku as a contender to host the Olympics in 2020. An organising committee has been created in Azerbaijan in this regard. Madrid, Rome, Tokyo, Istanbul and the capital of Qatar - Doha are contenders to host the Olympics in 2020 along with Baku. The IOC will name the city where the Olympics will be held after a two-stage selection on September 7, 2013 in Buenos Aires.
