Uzbek Senate’s plenary session scheduled for Aug. 30-31

Azizov / The Council of the Senate of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, the upper house of Uzbek parliament adopted a resolution to convene the ninth plenary session of the Senate on Aug.30-31, Uzbek the parliamentary press service reported on Tuesday. Agenda of the plenary session of the Senate includes in particular the Law "On approval of the Concept of foreign-policy activity of the Republic of Uzbekistan", which defines fundamental principles and priorities of foreign policy, the law "On protection of private property and guarantees of owners' rights," which aims at establishing a system of reliable guarantee of its inviolability. In addition, senators will consider the law "On making amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan in connection with the further reforming of the judicial system", which aims at further strengthening of the independence of the judiciary, strengthening its role in protecting human rights and freedoms and control over ensuring the rule of law in the pre-trial stage of criminal cases. In addition, the upper house will discuss the law "On making amendments to the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan on administrative responsibility in connection with introducing liability for illegal interference in activity of business entities", which envisages provision of favorable conditions for stable activity of small business entities, preventing cases of illegal interference in their activities of officials, public authorities and other laws. Senators will also consider issues on changing borders of the Fergana city and Fergana district of Ferghana region, as well as a report of the Central Bank Board Chairman. The plenary session will discuss other issues relating to the competence of the Senate, the report says. The bicameral parliament in Uzbekistan was formed in 2005. Do you have any feedback?
