UB CITY'S DEVELOPMENT PLAN TO BE UPDATED

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ At its irregular meeting Tuesday, the cabinet members got au fait with a document on general plan for developing Ulaanbaatar until 2020, and decided to discuss again after having reflected proposals needed. The city's population has been dramatically increasing due to a migration of countryside people who settle down mainly in ger districts making them expand without any control; a number of vehicles is increasing, too, which is worsening the environment and ecology of Ulaanbaatar; and socio-economics and engineering infrastructure, auto roads and public transport have been overloaded greatly. Due to these factors a need has arisen to work out a general plan for development of Ulaanbaatar city until 2030, making clarification to it for 2020. Accordingly, Ulaanbaatar will have several centers divided into ten micro-districts with comprehensive infrastructure and social services, each of micro-districts will have a sub-center, the Ministry of Construction and Urban Development says. Principles have been maintained in the plan on sustainable and green development and on creating safe and good conditions for living.
