Two Fugitive convicts arrested

Manama, Apr. 23. (BNA) -- Redha Abdullah Al Ghasra and Hussain Al Bana who escaped from the Reformation and Rehabilitation Centre on April 21 were arrested in Saar early this morning as a result of an intensified manhunt, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) announced. Cooperation between the Ministry of Interior and the National Security Agency (NSA) led to the two fugitive convicts who were found hiding in a house in Saar along with seven other wanted individuals, the MoI said in a statement. Police also confiscated weapons, bullets, explosives and remote detonators from the location, the statement added, noting that some of those arrested told investigators that they had used Mattams (Community Centres) in different villages to store home-made weapons and bomb-making materials. The Mattams in questions were then searched by the police in the presence of the Governor, representatives of the Jaffari Endowments and the caretakers of the Mattams. Bomb-making material and ready-to-use launchers were confiscated. Legal procedures are being taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution. As a result of the successful operation, the Interior Minister Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa visited today the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation and Forensic Science, along with the Minister of State for Interior Affairs Major-General Adel bin Khalifa Al Fadhel and Chief of Public Security Major-General Tariq Al Hassan. The Minister met a number of officers and non-commissioned officers from the Interior Ministry and the NSA and expressed sincere thanks and appreciation to them for their work and prayed Allah Almighty to protect the protection of Bahrain under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
