Two Azerbaijani hostages released in Iran

Azerbaijan, Baku, May 17 / Trend K. Zarbaliyeva / Azerbaijani border guards neutralized an organized gang consisting of Azerbaijani and Iranian citizens who were engaged in drug smuggling. Resorting to secret methods, the gang members organized the transit of drugs from Iran to Azerbaijan across the state border. This was revealed during the operation conducted in April, the press-center of the State Border Service told Trend today. As a result of the operation carried out by the service, two Azerbaijani gang members were arrested. In exchange for drugs imported from Iran to Azerbaijan, two Azerbaijani hostages were taken in the Alirzabas village near the Iranian city of Parsabad. Their lives and health are in danger. As a result of the actions carried out by the relevant Iranian bodies, four gang members were detained for the committed crime. The hostages were transferred to the Azerbaijani side on May 3. Other members of organized criminal gang were found. About seven people were arrested. The weapons and ammunition, a large consignment of narcotics, antiques, five vehicles used for criminal purposes, three mobile phones, etc. were revealed. Drugs were also confiscated.
