Turkmen-French intergovernmental commission’s composition approved

Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, April 10 / Trend, H. Hasanov / President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov has approved the composition of the Turkmen-French intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, an official Turkmen source said on Tuesday. According to the document, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers (Deputy Prime Minister) in charge of the construction sector, energy and industry, Akmurad Egeleev has been appointed as co-chairman from the Turkmen side. The president's visit to France in February 2010 gave an impetus to the development of relations between the two countries. The French president also plans to make a visit to Ashgabat. The date is being clarified via diplomatic channels. French companies in Turkmenistan are well represented in such areas as construction, transport, tourism and energy. The French Schneider Electric company signed a major agreement with the Turkmen government within a consortium with the Belgian Enex to provide Ashgabat with power. French companies VINCI Construction, Bouygues and Thales International are represented on this market. Cooperation in the fuel and energy complex has a special place. In particular, Total - the fourth-largest oil company in the world may be involved in the near future in the development of the Turkmen section of the Caspian Sea and study of the possibilities of gas transportation to Europe.
