Turkish security forces kill 8 terrorists in clash

BINGOL (A.A) - December 15, 2011 - Turkish security forces killed 8 terrorists in a clash in eastern province of Bingol.
The Governor of eastern province of Bingol, Hakan Guvencer, said that eight terrorists were killed in a clash with Turkish security forces in Yayladere town on Thursday.
Security forces performed an operation on a house in Surmelikoc village at about 1330 hours on Thursday. Terrorists opened fire on the security forces during the operation and resisted arrest, Guvencer underlined.
"Eight terrorists inside the house were killed. More details on the operation would be provided later," Guvencer stressed.
Meanwhile, in a separate operation in southern province of Mersin's Aydincik town, Turkish security forces arrested 28 individuals for their connection to the terrorist organization. During the Aydincik operation, security forces found 12 kilograms of explosives, 32 bomb set-ups, 18 hand grenades and 5 long range rifles.
Since 1984, PKK’s terrorist activities resulted in the death of more than 30,000 Turkish citizens, among whom were innocent civilians, teachers and other public servants, many deliberately murdered, and large amount of economic loss.
In its history, the terrorist organization also employed suicide-bombing methods, waged mainly by women terrorists in Turkey; and kidnapped foreign tourists in southeastern Anatolia in the early 1990s. In order to damage Turkey’s economy, the organization also set forests in Turkey’s tourist resorts on fire.
The PKK is designated a terrorist group by Turkey, the European Union and the United States.
