Turkish president defines attack on Turkish hajjis in Syria as dangerous

LONDRA (A.A) - November 21, 2011 - Turkey's president defined on Monday attack on Turkish hajjis in Syria as dangerous. President Abdullah Gul said such attacks were dangerous, and said as far as he was concerned, buses carrying Turkish hajjis went to a wrong place in Syria. "I hope such incidents will not occur again," Gul told reporters at London's Mandarin Hotel. An armed attack was staged early on Monday on two buses carrying Turkish hajjis in a location between Syrian cities of Hama and Homs. Two people including a driver were slightly wounded in the attack, and they were hospitalized.  President Gul recalled that a group of people had also attacked Turkish Embassy in Damascus, and said the Damascus administration had declared it would punish the assailants. Gul said Turkey's stance on Syria was obvious, and it did not have a secret agenda.  "All we wish is that Syria gets stronger and Syrian people happier. If Syrian people are not happy, we should hear the voice of Syrian people," Gul said. Gul said authoritarian regimes, dictatorships and single-party administrations were a fact of the region in the past, however those days were over now. "Therefore, it is the most natural right of the Syrian people to demand fundamental rights and freedoms in their own country, and we wish that this voice of people should be heard," Gul also said.
