Turkish minister condemns terrorism
ANKARA (A.A) - 11.03.2011 - Turkey's state minister for the European Union has said that Turkey condemned all kinds of terrorism and commemorated victims of terrorism in the world with a great respect.
In a written statement marking the European Day for Victims of Terrorism, Egemen Bagis said, "the world was shocked by attacks targeting New York, Istanbul, Madrid and London in the last decade. All those bloody attacks showed the brutal and terrifying face of terror to the world and proved once again that terrorism is a global threat against humanity."
"As Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan indicated on every possible occasion, terrorism does not have nationality, religion or language. As a country which has always contributed efforts to ensure global peace, tranquillity and stability, Turkey believes that victims of terrorism should not be subject to any discrimination as well. I hope that Europe will realize on this occasion that it has not extended enough support to Turkey in its long-standing struggle against terrorism," he said.
"Any country cannot be remain indifferent against terrorism. We all have to act together against it," he stressed.
Bagis concluded that Turkey condemned all kinds of terrorism and commemorated victims of terrorism in the world.
March 11 was declared as the European Day for Victims of Terrorism after 191 people from 17 different countries lost their lives in Madrid bomb attacks on March 11, 2004 and over 50 others were killed in the London bombings of July 7, 2005.
