Turkish interior minister meets Palestinian counterpart

ANKARA (A.A) - July 25, 2011 - Turkish Interior Minister Idris Naim Sahin on Monday met with his Palestinian counterpart Said Abu Ali in the Turkish capital, Ankara.
Speaking to reporters before their meeting, Sahin said his talks with the Palestinian minister would include cooperation in homeland security as well as law enforcement.
"Turkey has been instructing Palestine police officers since 1996. So far 973 Palestinian officers were trained in Turkey including 61 police chiefs," Sahin said.
Abu Ali, on his part, said that Palestine was grateful for the support it had received from Turkey, which he said was brother for Palestinians.
"Today our meeting will review the assistance Turkey had extended. I am honored to convey our gratitude on behalf of the Palestinian people for the support we have seen in the making of our police force," Abu Ali said.
