TURKISH AND LIBYAN BUSINESSMEN MAY LOOK FOR NEW COMMON MARKETS, AL-HAJRASY
ISTANBUL (A.A) - 20.05.2010 - Libyan Deputy Industry & Trade Minister Lotfi Al-Hajrasy said on Thursday that businessmen of Turkey and Libya could cooperate to search for new markets.
"African region may be the primary markets to cooperate," Al-Hajrasy said while addressing the first Turkish-Libyan Business Forum.
Al-Hajrasy said the business forums constitute opportunities to encourage joint investment between the businessmen of the two countries.
Referring to relations between Turkey and Libya rooted in history, Al-Hajrasy said partnerships should be established between the two parties in various areas.
The deputy minister said Libyan businessmen could make use of experiences of the Turkish businessmen on food, textile, construction, agriculture and tourism, noting that Turkish businessmen could invest in Libya.
"Libya waits for Turkish entrepreneurs, we may establish joint investment companies," Al-Hajrasy said, and added that Libya wanted Turkish businessmen to invest in construction as well as production and industry.
Shabaan Al-Montasir, chairman of Turkish-Libyan Businessmen Council, said leaders of the two countries took joint steps to boost relations.
"We not only want trade relations but also partnership. We are eager to carry out common projects with Turkish businessmen and have joint works in the African continent," he said.
Turkish-Libyan Businessmen Council Turkey Section Chairman Ersin Takla said Turkish-Libyan Business Council was established in 2007.
Takla said trade volume between Turkey and Libya exceeded 2 billion USD in 2009, indicating that Libya was one of Turkey's most important trade partners.
