Turkey welcomes efforts to ensure unity and solidarity among Palestinians

ISTANBUL (A.A) - January 2, 2012 - Turkey's prime minister has welcomed efforts aiming to ensure unity and solidarity among the Palestinians. Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Ismail Haniya, the prime minister of the Palestinian administration in Gaza, in Istanbul on Sunday, and said that Turkey welcomed recent efforts aiming to ensure unity and solidarity among the Palestinians. The meeting between Erdogan and Haniya lasted about two and a half hours. During the meeting, Erdogan expressed hope that efforts aiming to restructure the interim leadership committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization would be completed as soon as possible. Erdogan also hoped that Palestinian people would have a comprehensive frame organization that had a high democratic representative power with participation of all political groups, and the organization would be ensured with a compromise among all the Palestinians. Premier Erdogan and Haniya also exchanged views on regional issues, and Haniya briefed Erdogan on problems they were facing due to embargo on Gaza Strip. Haniya thanked Erdogan for his efforts to help solution of Palestinian dispute and lift embargo on the Palestinians living in the Gaza Strip.
