Turkey to set up prefabricated houses for Syrian refugees
DOHA (A.A) - December 12, 2011 - Turkey plans to move Syrian refugees living in tent camps to a compound of prefabricated houses in the south of the country, Turkish deputy prime minister said.
"We will set up a container city for 7,500 Syrian refugees who currently live in five separate tent camps near the southern province of Kilis," Besir Atalay told reporters in Doha, Qatar, where he participated in a meeting of the Alliance of Civilizations.
More than 18,000 Syrian citizens fled violence to Turkey as nearly 11,000 of them have returned to their homes. Currently around 7,500 Syrian refugees live in five camps set up by the Turkish Red Crescent in the southern province of Hatay.
After concluding his talks in Doha the Turkish deputy premier departed for Turkey.
