Turkey condemns Syria's policies
ANKARA (A.A) - December 22, 2011 - Turkey condemned on Thursday the policies of Syrian administration.
A Foreign Ministry statement said that the Syrian administration continued to resort to violence despite a protocol signed with the initiatives of the Arab League, which had caused serious concerns about the real intention of the administration.
"Turkey condemns Syrian administration's oppressive policies which target at its own people and which turn the country into a bloodshed," the statement said.
The protocol signed on December 19 envisages sending an observer mission to Syria.
The ministry said increase of violence and death of civilians in Syria had caused public unrest, and noted that Syria was behaving contrary to the protocol signed with the initiatives of the Arab League.
"The protocol aims to take protection of civilians under guarantee, and within this framework it aims to end violence in the country in the first place, prevent security forces and militia to intervene in pacifist demonstrations, and ensure withdrawal of those forces from provinces and other settlements," the ministry said.
The ministry said no administration could be the winner of a fight against its own people, and called on the Syrian administration to fully abide by the requirements of the agreement with the Arab League.
In its statement, the ministry said Syria should end violence and oppression against its people immediately and take steps in line with the demands of its people.
