Turkey, China discuss regional issues

Azerbaijan, Baku, April 11 / Trend, A.Taghiyeva/
A number of international and regional issues were discussed within Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan's visit to China, the Zaman newspaper reported.
When discussing ways to settle up the Syrian crisis, Erdogan said President Assad has failed to fulfill his promises given to special envoy of the UN and the Arab League on Syria General Kofi Annan to end the violence in the country.
"After accepting Annan Plan dozens of people are killed in Syria every day. International community should not watch in silence," Erdogan told reporters on Tuesday.
He also stressed that the position of China, Russia and Iran also changed in this regard.
After continuous negotiations between Turkey and these countries, they admitted that Assad made a mistake and he should begin to fulfill Annan plan as soon as possible, Erdogan said.
With regard to violations of Turkish borders by the Syrian army, Erdogan said Ankara will give an appropriate response.
Two Syrian citizens were killed and 11 people were wounded in shootout on the Turkish-Syrian border between Syrian security forces and opposition members, who attempted to flee to Turkey on April 9.
Anti-government protests which began in mid-March have persisted in Syria for almost a year. Daily reports are being received about the deaths of people, both civilian and the security forces.
According to UN statistics, the total number of victims in the country exceeds 9000. The Syrian authorities accuse armed militants of the clashes saying they receive assistance from neighbouring countries.
