Turkey and Kyrgyzstan aim to increase trade turnover to USD 1 bln: Erdogan

Turkey and Kyrgyzstan aim to increase the volume of mutual trade turnover to $1 billion, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said at a joint press conference following talks with Kyrgyz counterpart Sadyr Zhaparov in Ankara. According to him, commercial relations were discussed in detail during the meetings held. "The volume of trade with Kyrgyzstan, which is still at $507 million, has not decreased significantly, despite the epidemic last year. However, we believe that our potential is much higher. That's obvious. We will step up our efforts to reach the goal of one billion dollars in trade," the Turkish leader said. Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov is in Turkey’s Ankara for an official visit. On the first day of the visit, the Kyrgyz leader laid wreath at the tomb of Ataturk and held a tete-a-tete format meeting with President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Following the talks, a number of bilateral documents were signed between the states. In addition, the two leaders attended a closing ceremony of the IV International Issyk-Kul Forum named after Chyngyz Aitmatov.
