Thai teachers offer support to govt
BANGKOK, July 2 (TNA) - More than 200 teachers from nationwide early Monday pledged to Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra that teachers would support her government and oppose every form of coup.
The teachers, all members of the Teacher Organisation Network of Thailand (TONT), presented bouquet to Yingluck at the Government House and told her that the TONT would support the government to complete its four-year term administration, protect people’s freedom and rights, to cooperate with every organisation in opposing every form of coup in the country, and to support Education Minister Suchart Thada-Thamrongvech in administering the ministry with transparency.
They also urged the government to help amend the law on civil servant pension fund which has been enacted since 1996.
In response, Yingluck told the teachers that her government is determined to work for the people. She urged them to help in explaining to other teachers, students and the public on how to uphold social unity and resolve current social divisiveness.
Yingluck also promised to TONT members that she would ask the Finance Ministry to speed on amending the civil servant pension fund law for the benefit of every civil servant in the country. (TNA)
