Thai private sector pushes anti-corruption campaign
BANGKOK, December 10 (TNA) – Thailand’s private sector is now seeking the continuation of its Anti-Corruption campaign launched since July 1st this year, as it also urges the government to quickly employ measures to restore investor confidence, particularly on flood prevention.
Pongsak Assakul, chairman of Thai Chamber of Commerce, made the announced on Saturday during the 29th seminar of chamber of commerce nationwide, held in the resort province of Rayong.
Pongsak underscored that Thailand is now confronting its worst economic crisis as people and businesses are suffering unduly from the floods. He said damages from the floods have been estimated at over 100 billion baht, saying the disaster might not have happened if Thailand was corruption free.
Thailand’s economy in 2012 could grow not less than 5 percent and exports expand at a minimum of 10 percent, but only if the government stimulates the economy, restore investor confidence and map out flood prevention measures, he said. (TNA)
