Thai PM to visit Singapore on Dec 8

BANGKOK, December 7 (TNA) - Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is scheduled to pay a one-day official visit to Singapore Thursday to introduce her new administration and to strengthen bilateral ties and cooperation between Thailand and the neighbouring island state. Yingluck will depart for Singapore at 1pm and will meet her Singapore counterpart Lee Hsien Loong upon her arrival in the city state to discuss trade and investment ties between the two countries, both are key members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN). The Thai premier will also pay a courtesy call on Singapore's President Tony Tan, who was elected as the seventh president of the ASEAN neighbour in August 2011. The visiting Thai prime minister will then attend a reception dinner hosted by her Singapore counterpart, before returning to Bangkok in the evening. (TNA)
