Special UN center hub to be created in Kazakhstan to help Afghanistan

Special UN center hub will be created in Kazakh city of Almaty to foster situation stabilizing in Afghanistan, Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev said at the meeting with Special Representative of UN Secretary-General for Afghanistan and the head of UN Assistance Mission to Afghanistan Jan Kubis on Thursday.
"Kazakhstan is ready to participate in the process of stabilizing the situation and a peaceful life in Afghanistan after withdrawal of the international coalition troops. In this regard, we plan to organize a special UN center hub in Almaty. The center will assist to Central Asian and other countries in providing effective assistance to Afghanistan," the presidential press-service said, quoting Nazarbayev.
Jan Kubis, in turn, believes that improvement of the situation in Afghanistan will improve the situation in the region in general.
"If the situation in Afghanistan is stable, the entire region will be able to develop sustainably. I appreciate the work done by Kazakhstan to provide support and assistance to Afghanistan," Kubis said.
Within the meeting the parties also discussed a wide range of issues on humanitarian issues, trade, investment and infrastructure projects.
