Speaker meets Vuk Jeremic

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Speaker of parliament Z.Enkhbold received Friday Mr Vuk Jeremic, the President of the United Nations General Assembly for the 67th session, who began an official visit to Mongolia. Beginning the meeting, the Speaker thanked Mr Jeremic for visiting Mongolia, and congratulated him on successfully chairing the 67th session of the UN General Assembly, issuing vital resolutions for world peace and security. The Speaker also emphasized an importance of the joint declaration to reaffirm the nuclear-weapon-free status of Mongolia affirmed by the P5 states and the resolution on Education for democracy (A/67/L.25). In turn, Mr Jeremic expressed his satisfaction with visiting Mongolia for the first time, and thanked Mongolia for active participation in the UN actions, becoming one of the responsible nations in the world. Those resolutions released together with Mongolia after taking the duty of UNGA president became the historically-important documents, Mr Jeremic underlined, adding that these documents have contributed to raising reputation of Mongolia at international arena, and the current President of Mongolia also significantly has done big efforts to reach the achievements. The dignitaries exchanged views on preparation works for the 68th session of the UNGA that will begin in September. Mongolian side intends to report on implementation of the three resolutions at the upcoming session. Last week Mongolia sent to the UN Secretariat and UNESCO its national report on “UN Literacy Decade”. Mongolia also has submitted to the UN Secretariat a national report on “Role of cooperatives in social development”. In addition, the related body of Mongolia is drawing up a draft report on improvement of the situation of women in rural areas.
