Speaker of Kyrgyz Parliament to visit UK

Bishkek, Feb. 14 / Kabar /. Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Chynybay Tursunbekov and member of the House of Lords of the British Parliament, Baroness Alison Syutti discussed today during a meeting in Bishkek the forthcoming visit of the Kyrgyz Speaker to Great Britain. The press service of the Kyrgyz Parliament reports that, the sides also discussed the issues of further strengthening of inter-parliamentary relations and the continuation of mutual visits. The Speaker said that visits of Kyrgyz parliamentary delegations to the UK strengthen bilateral relations. Over 25 years of cooperation, Department for International Development UK (DFID) has rendered full support, both materially and technically. Tursunbekov, expressing gratitude for the support in developing the Strategy of Development of the Jogorku Kenesh until 2021, said that the document has already been adopted by Parliament. "We hope that thanks to this strategy we move on to a new stage of development and strengthening parliamentary democracy in the country," said the Speaker. Chynybay Tursunbekov also stressed the importance of expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation. Baroness Alison Syutti said that she visits Kyrgyzstan for the first time, which recalls her Scotland, the hometown of the Baroness. Deputy of the House of Lords of the British Parliament informed about the current political situation and the future plans of the UK.
