SPEAKER DISCUSSES TRAVEL ISSUES WITH SOUTH KOREAN AMBASSADOR

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ Speaker of Parliament M.Enkhbold received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Republic of Korea to Mongolia Jeong Jae Nam on June 20. At the beginning of the meeting, Speaker M.Enkhbold congratulated Jeong Jae Nam on his appointment as the Ambassador of Republic of Korea to Mongolia and presented his credentials to President of Mongolia Kh.Battulga, and wished him success. The sides expressed their satisfaction with regularization of high-level mutual visits and intensification of bilateral relations and cooperation in all sectors. They noted the importance of expanding and deepening inter-parliamentary cooperation among members, groups and Parliamentary offices of Mongolia and Republic of Korea. Mr. Jeong Jae Nam noted that it is important to upgrade comprehensive partnership relations of the two countries to strategic partnership. Moreover, Ambassador Jeong Jae Nam informed that visits of President of Republic of Korea and the Prime Minister to Mongolia are planned. Ambassador Jeong Jae Nam proposed Speaker M.Enkhbold to reduce barriers in air transport sector to boost tourism sector and people-to-people relations, adding that annually around 70000 Koreans visit Mongolia. “I believe that the number of Korean tourists will reach hundreds of thousands. However, the main barrier is limited number of flights being conducted with expensive tickets. Thus, I request Mr M.Enkhbold to pay special attention to this matter,” Ambassador Jeong Jae Nam said. In response, Speaker M.Enkhbold said that the Government of Mongolia submitted a draft law and regulation for the liberalization of air transport. I hope your request will be realized when the Parliament discusses and resolves the issue. Mongolians are interested in visiting Republic of Korea as well. So, I would like to ask you to pay attention to create condition for Mongolians to travel without visa. Ambassador Jeong Jae Nam introduced current situation of granting visa to Mongolians and problems they face, adding that he will make efforts so that Mongolians travel to Republic of Korea without visa and noted the issue will not be resolved easily and will go through many stages.
