Secretary General António Guterres: Azerbaijan closely participates in UN initiatives and programs

Baku, May 25, AZERTAC Azerbaijan closely participates in the UN initiatives and programs, said Secretary General of the Organization António Guterres as he met Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov. Elmar Mammadyarov conveyed greetings of President Ilham Aliyev to the UN Secretary General. Guterres also recalled his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev and asked to communicate his greetings and best wishes to the head of state. Minister Mammadyarov said support of the UN and its bodies during Azerbaijan`s independence years, as well as aids aiming to solve humanitarian problems of citizens who became IDPs and refugees as the result of the Armenian aggression were highly appreciated in Azerbaijan. They discussed relations between UN and Azerbaijan. The Minister said Azerbaijan is committed to principles of international law and the UN charters, adding the country contributes and supports the activity of the Organization.
