Saemaul Undong of Korea to contribute in development of villages

Bishkek, July 30, 2018 / Kabar /. Director of the State Agency for Local Self-Government and Inter-Ethnic Relations of Kyrgyzstan Bakhtiyar Saliev met with representatives of Saemaul Undong Global Movement of the Republic of Korea headed by Director of the Bureau of International Cooperation Pe Yun Bon. The sides discussed the current state of cooperation, organization of the seminar with the participation of heads of village councils from four pilot villages and leaders of Saemaul. In the course of the meeting, Saliev noted that "The contribution of the Korean center Saemaul Undong to the development of villages will create conditions for some villages to solve urgent issues, and also give impetus to the participation of villagers in solving village problems." Director of the Bureau of International Cooperation of the Semaul Undong Pe Yen Bon suggested in the future to focus on income-generating projects of local communities. Within the framework of earlier signed memorandum, projects are being implemented in 9 villages of Issyk-Kul, Naryn, Talas and Chui oblasts for a total of $ 140,000.
