Russian Parliament ratifies agreement on border issues cooperation with Tajikistan

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 11 / Trend E. Kosolapova / Russian State Duma (parliament) ratified an agreement between Russia and Tajikistan on cooperation on border issues signed on Sep. 2, 2011 in Dushanbe, Duma reported. Some 447 MPs voted for the adoption of the bill. According to the agreement, Russian specialists will remain in Tajikistan as cross-border cooperation group representatives, first Deputy Director - head of the Border Service of the Federal Security Service Vladimir Pronichev said, who presented the document at the plenary session. At the same time, according to Pronichev, the implementation of the agreement will not entail additional expenditures from the federal budget. According to Chairman of the Committee on CIS Affairs and Relations with Compatriots Leonid Slutsky, the cooperation will be implemented on all state borders. Russian representatives will be involved in the improvement of Tajik state border security system, operational security providing and trainings for Tajik border authorities' staff. Moreover, the parties will cooperate in fighting against terrorism, religious extremism, illegal circulation of weapons, narcotics and psychotropic substances. Do you have any feedback?
