Russia to develop privileged partnership with all Asian-Pacific nations, says Lavrov
NEW DELHI, January 15. /TASS/. The Russian-Indian relationship is developing as "especially privileged strategic partnership," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told the Raisina dialogue 2020 conference in New Delhi on Wednesday, adding that Moscow would like to establish such partnership with all countries of the Asian-Pacific region.
In 2000, Russia and India signed a Declaration of strategic partnership, after which the two countries brought their bilateral relationship to the level of privileged partnership, the minister said. "A few years ago the Indian friends proposed to call our relationship especially privileged strategic partnership. We want to develop such relations with all countries of the region and we hope our Indian friends will be promoting the same ideology," Lavrov noted.
