Regular consultations held between MFAs of Kyrgyzstan, Austria

Bishkek, June 9, 2022. /Kabar/. Vienna hosted a regular consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan and the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of Austria on bilateral political, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. The Kyrgyz delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Aibek Moldogaziev. The delegation from Austria was led by Gerhard Sailer, the Director General of the Department of Russia, Eastern Europe and South Caucasus, Eastern Partnership, Turkey and Central Asia of the Austrian Foreign Ministry, the Kyrgyz MFA said. At the beginning of negotiations, the sides noted that March 25, 2022 celebrated the 30th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Kyrgyzstan and Austria. In this regard, the current state and prospective directions of bilateral cooperation were discussed. In particular, the issues of possible organization of reciprocal visits at high and the highest levels, which would give an additional impetus to the development of the Kyrgyz-Austrian cooperation were considered. Special attention was paid to the discussion of trade and economic cooperation. The Kyrgyz side invited the Austrian side to hold the next 8th meeting of the Kyrgyz-Austrian Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation (IGC) on Sept. 27-28, 2022 in Bishkek, as well as to organize the Kyrgyz-Austrian business forum within the IGC. In the field of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, Aibek Moldogaziev and Gerhard Sailer noted the significant potential for cooperation. Emphasis was made on the need to develo cooperation in the field of education, strengthening interaction between universities of the two countries. To this end, the Kyrgyz side proposed to hold the Conference of Rectors of Kyrgyz and Austrian universities in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the cross Days of Culture of Kyrgyzstan in Austria and Austria in Kyrgyzstan. The representatives of the Kyrgyz, Austrian MFAs also focused on interaction within the European Union and mutual support for elected UN bodies.
