RECEPTION HELD FOR ANNIVERSARY OF MONGOLIA-UK DIPLOMATIC RELATIONS

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A reception of honor was held last Friday in the "Nomin" hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The Minister of Foreign Affairs L.Bold addressed the reception's opening, saying the UK is the very first western country to establish the diplomatic relations with Mongolia, and it prompted to raise reputation of Mongolia at an international level. "We consider that it was a historically important event in the foreign relations of Mongolia," he underlined. "After the national liberation movement in 1911, Mongolia declared its freedom and independence, and sent official letters to several states including the UK, and the authorities of the government invited a residential envoy to represent the UK in the capital city of Mongolia. The establishment of the diplomatic relations with the UK was an important event for Mongolia to be acknowledged in international arena," L.Bold underlined. Mongolia and the UK established their diplomatic relations January 23, 1963, and the sides intent to celebrate the 50th anniversary throughout this year. In frames of the anniversary, a two-volume research book named "100-year history of Mongolia-Britain history" will be published in Mongolian language. Other ceremonial events will take place as well.
