PRESIDENT AT UNIVERSITY OF WARSAW
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ In accordance with a schedule of his state visit to Poland, Mongolia's President Ts.Elbegdorj has visited the University of Warsaw.
This University is considered as one of the important centers of culture, sciences and education in Poland. Its rector Marcin Palys warmly welcomed Mr Elbegdorj and introduced him to the university and its center for Mongol studies founded in 1950.
The President said he is glad to visit the university of Warsaw and met with Mongol studies professors and awarded some of them the state prizes. After this he spoke about Mongolia's nowadays political and socio-economical situation, democracy values, human rights, open society, visited the Mongol studies center and gave library and language study equipment. He said that a foundation is created by initiative of the President to support the Mongol studies and that tution fee and other expenses are to be covered by it.
The University of Warsaw was established in 1816. It employs over 6,000 staff including 3,100 academic educators. It provides graduate courses for 56,000 students (on top of over 9,200 postgraduate and doctoral candidates). The University offers some 37 different fields of study, and over 100 specializations in humanities, technical as well as natural sciences.
