Premier meets Achim Steiner

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Premier N.Altankhuyag met Wednesday with Mr Achim Steiner, an Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) who is visiting Mongolia. Mr Steiner congratulated Mongolia on becoming one of the first members of the Green Economic Development Partnership Programme, and thanked Mongolia for holding the National Forum of Green Development in frames of this year’s World Environment Day which is marked throughout the world since 1972. Mr Steiner said the UNEP is ready to assist Mongolia in distributing to other nations activities of green economy and developmental strategy and in expanding these works. Mentioning that the Mongolian Ministry of Environment and Green Development has started working out a strategic document, the Premier hoped that it will be well revised with the participation and help of the UNEP. In conjunction with an intensive development of the mining industry, Mongolia needs the latest progressive technologies of environmental rehabilitation, he added.
