PREMIER ADDRESSES INT'L FORUM ON WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP

Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia /MONTSAME/ S.Batbold PM opened an international forum on women's leadership that kicked off on Sunday in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under auspices of the Community of Democracies (CoD). It has brought together women leaders from many countries, such as Ms. Hillary R.Clinton, the U.S Secretary of State; and Ms. Roza Otunbayeva, a former President of Kyrgyzstan. The Premier underlined that the Mongolians have a great tradition to respect women and their leadership. In this year's parliament are elected nine women, and they represent not only women, but also all Mongolians, he mentioned. The government has been supporting women's leadership at all levels of the state, he added. “Strengthening of a capacity of the women and families' participation is one of the important matters, for example, the government has drawn up and adopted a draft law on a gender equality, parliament is discussing an amendment to the law on family which aims to improve the social protection for female-headed households and children, the government is also realizing social programs on protecting mothers with four or more children, disabled", he went on. These works will be fruiful for every family and child in Mongolia, he hoped. In frames of the forum, discussions are running themed “Women, energy and economic sustainable development”, “Strategy of supporting women's business in reducing poverty”, “Providing women with more opportunities to utilize lands, mineral resources and renewable energy”, “Increasing women's leadership in private sector”, “Supporting women's participation in political and civil matters”.
