Postponed Azerbaijan-EU visa facilitation discussions to be held by late February

Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb.8 / Trend E. Mehdiyev / The first meeting on simplifying of the visa process between Azerbaijan and the European Union will be held by late February, head of the EU delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Roland Kobia told journalists on Wednesday. He said a recent meeting had to be postponed due to bad weather in Baku. "There are no other movements on this matter and discussions on simplification of the visa process will begin in the coming weeks," Mr Kobia said. The first meeting on the visa question between Azerbaijan and the EU was scheduled for the first week of February. On Dec.20 2011, the EU Council of Ministers gave a mandate to start negotiations with Azerbaijan on this matter. Visa facilitation will simplify the procedure for obtaining visas for certain categories of people, to reduce the visa fee as well as the necessary documents for obtaining visa.
