PM ERDOGAN ISSUES MESSAGE TO OANA & ANADOLU AGENCY

ISTANBUL (A.A) - 26.11.2010 - In a message sent Friday on the occasion of the inauguration of "News Agencies Meeting in the 2010 European Capital of Culture Istanbul", Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan sent his best wishes for the success of the general assembly of Organization of Asia-Pacific News Agencies (OANA) and congratulated staff members of the Anadolu Agency (AA) who are celebrating the 90th anniversary of the establishment of their agency.
In his message, Erdogan said that he hoped the OANA general assembly meeting would take place in harmony between various news agencies and their directors.
In opening remarks made at the meeting, AA's Executive Board Chairman and Director General Dr. Hilmi Bengi thanked the Istanbul 2010 European Capital of Culture Agency and Istanbul Municipality for their support in organizing the meeting.
Pointing out that the OANA's general assembly meeting took place on Thursday, Bengi said that OANA members had decided to convene in Istanbul in their meeting held in Jakarta three years ago.
I am thankful to OANA members for their support and confidence. I also thank the former OANA President, Indonesian news agency ANTARA's Director General, Ahmed Mukhlis Yusuf for his successful tenure of three years, Dr. Bengi also said.
