PERMANENT REP TO UN AT 51ST CSD SESSION

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Permanent Representative of Mongolia to the United Nations Mr O.Och has delivered a speech at a high-level panel discussion themed “Promoting people's empowerment in achieving poverty eradication, social integration and productive and decent work for all” within the 51st Session of the Commission for Social Development. The session kicked off Thursday in the UN Headquarters, New York, USA.
The Under-Secretary-General in the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs Mr Wu Hongbo made the opening remarks at the session.
After this, Mr Och expressed a confidence that supporting the people's empowerment will play a vital role in reducing the poverty rate and will contribute to improving of the quality of education and health services and to creating new job places. He said that
73.2 thousand vacancies were created in Mongolia in 2011-2012 thanks to measures for refining upon the legal environment, making the job places information more proper, giving loans for small- and middle-sized productions.
"We cannot develop the society, which ensures open, transparent and public participation, without promoting of the good governance. We have managed to reduce the corruption index thanks to intensifying the anti-corruption actions," Mr Och said. The government for reforms of Mongolia has goals to develop the cooperation with private sector and to collaborate with the civil society, he added.
