OT LLC PROMISES TO BUY MORE FROM NAT'L COMPANIES

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The Oyu tolgoi LLC announced Wednesday it increased targets for national procurement. It aims to buy half its goods and services from Mongolian companies this year. "The Oyu tolgoi is committed to developing a long term, reliable and economically beneficial national supply chain by working with and developing national suppliers, and it undertakes many activities to support and develop national suppliers." says a manager of OT's National procurement department B.Serjmaa. "In 2013, the company is planning a huge increase in the proportion of goods purchased within Mongolia. The OT will aim to make 50 percent of its total purchases with Mongolian companies". “A National Supplier is a company that is registered in Mongolia and whose majority owned by the Mongolian. We have a wide programme of activities to help these suppliers to develop the services that they can offer us. We also aim to spend 36.4 billion MNT with suppliers based in the Omnogobi,” she says. In 2010-2012, the OT LLC spent USD 1.1 billion for national suppliers. Last year alone, one thous. 131 Mongolian companies supplied products and services to OT, which makes up 67 percent of the total number of the OT suppliers. B.Khuder
