OIC Secretary General calls on EU to pressure Israel

Azerbaijan, Baku, Nov 17 /Trend A.Taghiyeva/ Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ekmeleddin Ihsanoglu called on the EU to put pressure on Israel to end the violence in the Gaza Strip, the organization said. Ihsanoglu discussed the expanding aggression of Israel against the Gaza Strip, the situation of Muslims in Myanmar, and the growing Islamophobia in the West with EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Catherine Ashton. A massive Israeli bombing of Gaza resumed on Saturday morning on the background of preparation for a possible ground invasion into the enclave. On Friday, Israeli troops inflicted more than 200 strikes on the Gaza Strip, which killed 11 Palestinians, both civilians and members of Hamas.
